SPEAKERS

Conference speakers 2012

We focus on people leading independent specialist media businesses.

We steer clear of large media organisations, suppliers, consultants, experts and concentrate on people with experience of putting ideas into practice in niche consumer and business to business markets and working within limited resources.

The theme of the day is "Think Niche, Act Global" and innovative publishers from across the UK will share their experiences of taking their specialist content to new audiences using creativity and new technology.   Speakers, chairs and panellists so far include:

  • Rebekah Billingsley, Publishing Director, Immediate Media, on tablet publishing in niche markets
  • Tim Brooks, former MD of Guardian, director at Emap, IPC: chair of consumer media panel
  • Mike Goldsmith, Editorial Director, Future, on tablet publishing for specialist magazines
  • Joe Hames, Business Media Group, PPA: chair of b2b media panel
  • Tony Harris, CEO of Boat International: on launching global events and managing an international network of magazines
  • Jeska Harrington Gould, MD of Research, panellist
  • Ben Heald, CEO of Sift Media: on pay gateways and commercialising b2b communities
  • Peter Houston, Content Director at Advanstar: on the challenges for editorial teams
  • Alex Martinez, MD of Sigaria, on developing membership propositions
  • Sam Spurdens, Director, LOOP Digital Media, on building an app from scratch and expanding internationally
  • Richard Walker, Director of Consumer Revenue, Future Publishing, on ecommerce in niche markets
